Confindustria Ungheria: new perspective of Pan European Industrial Development

On the occasion of the Italian Republic Day, Friday, June 2, 2023, the first official event of Confindustria Ungheria on the theme “The New Perspectives of Pan-European Industrial Development” was held. The event was organized in collaboration with Confindustria East Europe and the City of Debrecen, with the valuable partnership of UniCredit. Four sponsoring companies, Sofidel Hungary Kft, Tecnica Hungary Kft, Mital Kft, and ITL Group, also made a significant contribution and the event was moderated by Alessandro Farina, Managing director of ITL Group.

Confindustria Hungary has chosen the city of Debrecen as the stage for the first major event aimed at both the Italian and Hungarian business communities, given that the number of industrial parks in this area has quadrupled in the last five years, making the Debrecen region one of the protagonists of European industrial development,” adds Mrs. Janina Mathiasz, Director of Confindustria Ungheria.

The conference, attended by more than 120 representatives from the Italian and Hungarian business communities, was opened by the President of Confindustria Ungheria, Mr. Roberto Massucco. He emphasized over 150,000 small, medium, and large companies, with over 5 million employees, are members of the Confindustria (Italia) organization. The main objective of Confindustria Ungheria is to promote the strengthening of companies.

Subsequently, institutional greetings were expressed by Senator Roberto Menia.

During the conference, the Mayor of Debrecen, Mr. László Papp, provided an overview of the economic development strategy initiated in 2012, highlighting greenfield investments, the modernization of industrial parks, and the impressive increase in employment. Furthermore, he outlined the prospects for economic development in the coming years. Following that, the Deputy CEO of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), Mrs. Rita Szép Tüske, presented the investments in Hungary. Additionally, messages from the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Mr. Adolfo Urso, and the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mrs. Maria Tripodi, were transmitted, emphasizing the Italian government’s support for businesses. During the event, the President of Confindustria East Europe, Mrs. Maria Luisa Meroni, shared the potential of the country and presented the Confindustria East Europe Federation. She also highlighted the importance of Confindustria’s International Representations in supporting companies in internationalization processes and stressed the need for synergistic collaboration with various stakeholders in the Italian System.

The Economic and Commercial Office of the Italian Embassy provided valuable information on the state of economic relations between Italy and Hungary, identifying points of convergence and collaboration opportunities between the two countries. The investment trends in Hungary by HIPA were analyzed, and emphasis was placed on the growth prospects and economic development of the city of Debrecen by the Economic Development Center (EDC). The advisor from MGYOSZ (Association of Hungarian Industrialists) expressed the desire for collaboration with Confindustria Ungheria on important topics such as energy costs or the workforce for industries. The importance of institutions, associations, and agencies involved in the development of economic relations between the two countries was also emphasized. Finally, UniCredit presented a report on financial support for internationalization strategies of businesses.

The closing of the event was entrusted to Ambassador Raffaele Langella, Director of International Affairs at Confindustria, who reiterated the association’s constant commitment to internationalization and the promotion of Italian companies abroad.

Confindustria Ungheria enthusiastically participated in the Budapest Business Party 2023, a highly relevant event organized by ITL Group. During the event, representatives of Confindustria Ungheria had the opportunity to create meaningful connections and expand their network. Participation in the Budapest Business Party was a unique occasion to strengthen ties with the local and international business community in Hungary.
