Interview With Tali Reinfeld, Content And Training Manager Of Accelium Group

Tali Schwartz Reinfeld is the organizer of the International Accelium Olympics where the kids are “coming” at this time online from all over the world.  The Accelium Olympics are challenging online tournaments of strategy games that will captivate students’ imagination and develop their problem solving skills, planning, self-awareness, focus, and persistence.

“Accelium is my second home”

Tali has been working for the past 15 years at Accelium. Accelium is like a second home for her.  She’s a special education teacher, joined first as a teacher and now is a special part of Accelium.

At Accelium everything is based on the small yet powerful 3 steps methodology;

  1. GAME– Overcoming the challenges ahead of us while playing small games.
  2. PLAY – Learning from the games on the way
  3. APPLICATION -applying all those learnings in real life.

We believe that skills development is something that should start at an early age. At Accelium, starting from Grade one, we are teaching them tools, with our weekly session of more than 50 games students can learn a variety of skill sets and most importantly our teachers engage the education in an efficient way and make them able to apply in real-life situations later on.

When it comes to the difference between adults and kids, we find that kids are more open-minded than us.

They are eager to find a solution and focusing on the important parts, and yet adults on the other hand would like to complain. So we believe it’s very intuitive to start at an early age and learning those skills when they’re young

At Accelium, we are targeting both schools and parents. In the last year, the Coronavirus outbreak taught us everyone needs to have skills to learn and it created huge gaps among students. So we believe not only with teachers and schools but also with parents’ help we can close these gaps.

Bringing the public schools is not difficult, it’s challenging.

When it comes to helping children, at Accelium we have a variety of programs, and each program serving kids to foster different skill sets. We are focusing on making our students become “independent learners” we call “advanced learning strategies”. With this strategy, for instance, mathematical thinking is not just simple calculus, it’s more like learning mental operations, how to be persistent, and not to give up while practicing mathematical abilities.

Furthermore, when students are practicing, they start to develop the “thinking language”  – they start questioning and gaining abilities to looking from different perspectives, not taking everything for granted from the teachers. They will be able to verbalize what they’re thinking. Even for teachers, this methodology is a great way to engage with students. Since they’re always looking to find a way to look relevant, at Accelium we bring a new approach to break the old way of learning of teacher-focused lecture types.

Accelium Olympics is open to students from Grade one to Grade eight. Everyone can participate without prior knowledge or criteria. Everything is super self-explanatory and available all around the world, such as Australia, Israel, Czech Republic, and more. On our website, there is a leaderboard and participants get more information from there like tracking records and so on.

Accelium Olympics were held online for the first time last year, due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Even though there was a pandemic we had great success bringing together over 30k students from all around the world.

This year it will be fully online

We believe this gives even more opportunity to take part and participate. Anybody can register from anywhere. Even when schools don’t participate students and parents can register by themselves.

At the Olympics; there will be 4 tournaments running parallel 1 for each age group. So everyone can find their feet.

Grade one to four can develop skills like  problem solving and working together

Grade five to six analytical abilities and flexible thinking.

After the tournament, we believe that the added value is huge, and it’s easy and fun to participate in.

Students will feel overcoming the challenges and most importantly being part of something huge.

Economically, online tournaments are very affordable as we know not every kid and parents are able to send their kids, so it opens even more doors.

At the end of our tournaments, we have a different set of prizes; Every student will receive participant certificates. First, second and third places will receive an educational package from Accelium, which is very exciting.

We are planning to expand and increase the numbers of tournaments in June as well as throughout the year. We’re developing very exciting new strategies and plans for the upcoming years.

Our main focus for this year is tailor and making the most out of this year’s olympics.

We would like to invite everyone to join our tournament.
